Jake & Eli at the Westin Las Vegas Hotel & Spa

This upscale lobby bar, lounge, and steakhouse was part of a phased renovation and expansion at The Westin Las Vegas Hotel & Spa. Seeking to repurpose the hotel’s casino space, project ownership challenged designers to turn the large two-story area into an intimate dining experience.

The restaurant takes its cues from the backstory of two fictional rivals, Jake and Eli, who are credited with being the first men to create the concept of “American Bourbon.” Building off of the restaurant's unique story, the design team created a modern yet nostalgic space featuring colors and textures — such as whiskey barrel woods and 1920s warehouse brick — experienced during the making of bourbons. In the middle of the space is a wall of oak barrels that serves as both a thematic and spatial focal point.

Designers were able to downplay the size of the space by creating intimate, sub-dividable elements that address varying levels of use so the restaurant always feels full and vibrant. In addition, high-top seating and plush booths create a comfortable, contemporary setting for guests.
