Wesley at Tehaleh Senior Living, a Shared Ministry between Wesley and Presbyterian Homes & Services

A biophilic, resident-focused community that fosters well-being and meaningful connections

Designed in partnership with owners Presbyterian Homes and Wesley Homes, Wesley at Tehaleh Senior Living, a shared ministry with Presbyterian Homes, is a 400,000-square-foot senior living campus located near Seattle, Washington. The campus includes 136 independent living units, 42 catered living units, 18 memory care units, and a 24,000-square-foot town center that invites residents to engage with the environment through spectacular views of mountain ranges and connections to water and nature.

Surrounded by a trail system within allées of trees that connect the site to the larger development, Wesley at Tehaleh Senior Living embodies a timeless Pacific Northwest modern style with its warm, natural materials, daylight, and strong connection to the outdoors. A “biophilia breezeway” — a connection between a resident wing and the shared amenity spaces — allows for fresh air, abundant daylight, aroma from fragrant flowers, and views of a creek on site running through the building to the nearby ponds.

Energy modeling, wellness, and building performance are key components of the project and reflect the client’s program of “Living Well.” Daylighting studies, envelope performance criteria, natural materials, ecologically-sound natural landscape elements and integrated amenities are all done with residents’ wellbeing in mind.
