Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Outpatient Services Building

Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s (YRMC) new Outpatient Services Building is a one-stop shop for YRMC outpatient services that consolidates off-campus programs into one location immediately adjacent to the hospital.

The three-story, 100,100-square-foot building features various different clinics including Oncology, Infusion, Compounding Pharmacy, Cardiology and Cardiac Diagnostics, Surgical Specialty, Rehabilitation Therapy, and Wellness Center.

The design creates flexible clinic modules which can be adapted over time to meet the needs of the health system. A major goal of the project was to create a community asset that could be shared with the residents of Prescott and be a beacon of health and wellness. Interior and exterior spaces were designed with this in mind allowing various levels of access throughout the day for different activities. As part of this goal, the adjacent parking structure aligns with the floors in the Outpatient Services Building to avoid stairs and ramps for the elderly population who will frequent the building.

To reduce water usage in Arizona’s dry climate, several features are implemented in the design. Low flow fixtures throughout the building provide a 35 percent water savings. In the landscape, stormwater basins are used to retain the water on-site, with minimal additional water needed for the native grasses and trees.

Electronically tint-able glass on the building’s west façade preserves views of the nearby Thumb Butte Mountain while also managing light, glare, and energy consumption, and reducing the design of the mechanical system by over 20 percent.
