Minnesota AFL-CIO House of Labor
The new AFL-CIO building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds fosters effective communication with the public through its clear, visible presence. With over two million visitors to the fair every August, maximizing flexibility for multiple points of interaction was top priority for designers. The new space features large, open entries that flow into the exterior exhibit plaza. Portable kiosks allow for integrated video and interactive displays, while interpretive elements highlight the building’s construction techniques. The AFL-CIO building also incorporates sustainable strategies, such as natural ventilation, on-site storm water management, and the use of local materials.
