Corkins Center at Graland Country Day School

The Innovation Lab and Learning Commons addition at Graland Country Day School is an open, contemporary take on the school’s existing, more traditional classrooms. The Learning Commons features the library collection, small group rooms, a media lab, individual work spaces, and flexible classrooms. The Innovation Lab provides an expanded home for the Gate Innovation program and includes a cut room, 3D printer/laser cutter room, and a 2,300-square-foot maker space. The addition also includes two new Lower School science classrooms, development offices, the campus IT hub, and a secure entry area.

Cuningham partnered on the design with Bowie Gridley Architects.

“I want to commend the full team at Cuningham Group for designing such a great building. During the construction phase I often heard our families mention how the new building looked like it was always part of our campus. The attention to detail for the building footprint and exterior design made the building seamlessly integrate with our other buildings. I know this was no easy task since we are limited space wise and we did not want to give up any of our outdoor play space.”
