Celebrating the Richard R. Green Scholarship Program
Since 2006, Cuningham has sponsored the Richard R. Green Scholarship program to recognize and support excellence in practice-based research by Minnesota school leaders. Every year, the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA), honors the legacy of Richard R. Green, a former Minneapolis Superintendent who pioneered innovation in child-centered practice.
Scholars are selected from applications submitted from across the state of Minnesota, and announced each spring to provide a stipend and support for the publication of research, and presentation at MASA’s annual fall conference.
This year, we are proud to present the scholarship to Dr. Jeff Burgess, Superintendent of the Mesabi East School District, and his research, “Standard Specific Student Achievement Scores and the Impact on Teacher Incorporation of Standards, Knowledge of Standards, and Student Achievement”. This research will add to the body of work made possible by the scholarship program covering topics from ethics in leadership, resiliency, educational adequacy, and practices for advancing the state of education. Learn more about all of the research from the full list of Richard R. Green Scholarship honorees.
Cuningham is grateful to be a part of the innovative ideas and research coming out of the program, and believes in the power of research to inform design.
